About me.

My name is Cathal Ferris.

I’m originally from Bansha, in the green and visually stunning landscape of the Glen of Aherlow. After education in Rockwell I earned my place in the University of Limerick to study Mechanical Engineering. I changed over to Information Technology and Telecommunications in 1999, and graduated in 2002. I returned to UL to pursue a Postgraduate qualification, and graduated Grad.Dip Information and Network Security 1st-Class in 2017

After some time working in Cork for some tech start-ups, and in Limerick with another tech startup, I spent three and a bit years working with NetIQ – a multinational company that have the Irish offices based in Galway. Another eight years were spent with Thomson Reuters, based in Castletroy. After this, I spent some time contracting onsite with Google and Globalpay, and I’ve now moved to Switzerland working in the FinTech world.

Non-work interests are based outdoors in kayaking, mountainbiking, hiking and astronomy; and indoors in PC building and modification, as well as an involvement in Amateur Radio.
